Noon
Noon
Noon, 2024 (Trio: Morning, Noon, and Night)
Art print from original.
About the Art:
I have been reflecting on the pictures I loved in the Jet and Ebony magazines growing up. The women, men and families were always dressed to the nines. The handsome men always caught my eye, their hair, how they stood, what they were wearing. The coat casually hanging over their back! The hat cocked to the side!
Although most were famous or appeared to live fashionable, “moving on up” lives; they still had to deal with societal ills that said they weren’t enough.
The texture in the face(s) represents the trials and tribulations of just trying to survive. The turbulent, hectic background signifies the political noise surrounding blackness as a whole. But even through the fragments of our own personal chaos, we will always rise- Morning, Noon, and Night.
Second in the Trio.
Fun info:
The patterns on the vintage magazine papers were created using a distressing process with glue.
